Currently, all Belgian low-emission zones (LEZ) are more or less subject to the same rules, but from 2025 this will no longer be the case. While cities such as Antwerp and Ghent are postponing their planned tightening, Brussels does implement the conditions, and Wallonia is introducing an LEZ throughout its territory for the first time. This jumble of different rules makes driving an older petrol or diesel car difficult and can even lead to fines.
